The Hounarable Mr. Peter MacKay, MP.

Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dear Mr. MacKay:

Your Press Release, on Feb. 27, 2007, confirming Canada's implementation of UN Resolution # 1737 and the imposition of sanctions against Iran, displays an extraordinary selective concern for UN resolutions and international law.

The state of Israel stands today in defiance of scores of UNGA and Security Council resolutions. In July 2004, the International Court of Justice [ICJ] condemned the Apartheid Wall that Israel is constructing on illegally-occupied Palestinian territory, and called for its destruction. Similarly the UNGA called on its member states to implement the advice voiced by the ICJ.

As to the nuclear programme, why is this deafeaning silence about Israeli possession of hundreds of nuclear weapons for decades, in defiance of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty?

It is vital that our government, to enhance its credibilty, must cease this pratice of selective concern for UN resolutions and international law and demand that Israel, amongst other nations, must implement UN resolutions and comply with international law.

Yours sincerely,

Ismail Zayid, MD.
