Feb. 6, 2007,

The Right Hon. Mr. Stephen Harper,

Prime Minister,

Ottawa.

Dear Mr. Harper:

We read with alarm and shock the contents of the article, below: {" Canadian government forming pro-Israel lobby" The Jerusalem Post, Feb. 5}. We understand that you, personally, attended this meeting and, evidently, is in support of this committment.

Do we need to remind you that Canada continues to claim to stand in support of international law, the UN Charter and universal human rights, and to remind you that the state of Israel stands today in violation of scores of UN resolutions, and in defiance of international law and the International Court of Justice, and is committing war crimes that have been confirmed and condemned by all International human rights groups, like Amnesty International, Human rights Watch and Israeli human rights group, B'Tselem?

Yet, despite all this, is it conceivable that our government and prime minister are to stand in defence of Israel and its policies which contravene international law?

Sincerely,

Ismail Zayid, MD
