Dear Mr.MacKay;

We are amazed and shocked at the blatant practice of double standards you display in responses to the killing of civilians in Sri Lanka and Palestine, in your statements of Nov. 10, and 8, 2006.

While you rightly condemn the killing of civilians in Sri Lanka, you prevaricate and refuse to condemn the equally criminal killing, by Israeli forces, of civilians in Beit Hanoun and Gaza, and other sites in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Are Palestinians, in your books, less than human or is Israel above international law?

It is time that our government begins to apply the principles of human rights and values equally, without the blatant bias clearly expressed in relation to Israeli violations of human rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
