Subject: Palestinian Petition and Camp David

23 July, 2000

We fully support the Palestine Petition and call on the Palestinian Delegation at Camp David to safeguard, at any price, the legitimate basic rights of all Palestinians. These must include complete Israeli withdrawal from all territory illegally occupied in 1967, including the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, to the June 4, 1967 borders, in accordance with Security Council Resolution # 242. East Jerusalem must be completely free to be the capital of a completely independent Palestinian state. There is no substitute to Jerusalem. The right of all Palestinian refugees to return to their homes must be guaranteed, in compliance with U.N. Resolution # 194. All Jewish settlements are illegal and must be dismantled, in accordance with Security Council resolution.

Barak’s demand, that the projected agreement would put an end to the Palestinian conflict and that Israel would no longer bear any moral or legal responsibility towards the Palestinian People, is absurd and should not be accepted.

Any compromise on these basic rights is a betrayal of the rights Palestinian people and will not be tolerated by our people.

P.S. I was born and brought up in the village of Beit Nuba, in the West Bank, which was occupied in June 1967, and totally demolished, together with the neighbouring villages of Imwas and Yalu, on the direct orders of that war criminal Yitzhak Rabin.
