The Hon. Mr. Bill Graham,
Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dear Mr. Graham:

We read in the press about your telling arafat to make a 100% effort to curb Palestinian attacks on Israelis. Why, pray, is there no call on Sharon and his government to bring to an end the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Israeli forces, largely against defenceless civilians, using tanks, F16's and Apache gunships? How about asking Israel to cease its systematic violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, including collective punishments, demolition of Palestinian homes, expropriation of their land, creation of illegal Jewish settlements, extra-judicial assassination, detention without charge or trial and torture of prisoners?

Above all, is it not time for our government to demand an immediate termination of the oppressive illegal occupation, of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, that has been allowed to stand for 35 years in defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions? How long must Israel be allowed to remain above international law?

Yours Sincerely,

Ismail Zayid, M.D.
President, Canada Palestine Association.
