Subject: The Passing of a great man.
Dear Mr. Farjoun:
Please express my sincerest sympathy to
Professor Shahak's family.
Professor Shahak was a man of principle and a man
of true humanity. I met him at a university seminar we shared in Scotland in
1970. I shall never forget the words he told me about he came to see the
brutality of the Israeli occupation and how he saw with his own eyes how the
Palestinians were treated. He said "That is how the Nazis treated us in
Belsen".
Such men are rare in our age and his loss is
immeasurable, not only to Israelis but to all human kind.
May he rest in peace.
Yours sincerely
Ismail Zayid, MD.
