Right to resist            The Halifax Herald      16 Sept. 2002

Dear Editor:

Joanna Grossman's letter, "Missed the message," (Sept. 7) simply regurgitates the usual falsehoods about Israeli practices.

Ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians and Israeli state terrorism have been documented and confirmed by Israeli historians and international human rights organizations and Israeli human rights groups like B'Tselem and Israeli League for Human and Civil Rights, as well as by Zionist and Israeli leaders.

Ms. Grossman contests my statement that international law and the UN Charter entitles Palestinians, like all people under foreign occupation, to resist foreign occupation and describes this as outrageous and baseless.

UN General Assembly resolution # 2787 of Dec. 6, 1971, states : The General Assembly "confirms the legality of the peoples' struggle and liberation from colonial and foreign domination and alien subjugation, notably in South Africa and in particular the peoples of Zimbabwe, Namibia, Angola, Mozambique and Guinea (Bissau), as well as the Palestinian people, by all means, consistent with the Charter of the United Nations."

Ms. Grossman may remember that we all applauded the struggle and resistance of the French and other European peoples against the Nazi foreign occupation. The facts speak for themselves, for those who care for the truth.
