Re: A courageous voice for human rights.

Dr Derek Summerfield deserves full praise for his timely and courageous report on the brutal Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. The Palestinian people, as he describes, are being subjected to denial of health care, daily humiliation, detention without charge or trial, torture, extra-judicial assassination, demolition of their homes, uprooting of their trees, and expropriation of their land, for the creation of illegal Jewish settlements. All these practices are in violation of virtually every article of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and thus are defined as war crimes.

It is,thus, the duty of all those who claim to care for human rights and international legitimacy to demand an end to this oppresive illegal occupation that has been allowed to stand for 37 years, in defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions.

Yours sincerely, Ismail Zayid, MB., BS.; FRCPath.
