Subject: It is the occupation......
The Editor,
The Globe & Mail.
Dear
Editor:
In your
editorial, {"A 'sense of possibility'" July 29.}, you describe
Palestinian resistance as terrorism. Resistance against foreign
occupation is legitimate under international law and the UN Charter. Why, pray,
are the Palestinian people, of all other people under foreign
occupation, denied this legitimate right?
You speak
of a possibility of peace, yet there is no mention of the brutal illegal
Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, that has been allowed to stand
for 40 years, in defiance of international law and repeated Security Council
resolutions. The Palestinian people have been calling for peace for decades,
but, alas,
Peace and
security for Palestinians and Israelis can be assured if
Yours
sincerely,
Ismail Zayid.
