Subject: All settlements are illegal.
Aug. 14, 2007
The Editor,
The Globe & Mail.
Dear
Editor:
Shira
Herzog, in her column:{"The settlers issue in the
West Bank is far from settled" Aug. 14},
speaks of hundreds of unauthorised illegal
outposts. Yet these outposts are provided with infrastructure "...and all
receive military protection." The point that is not mentioned and
should be emphasized is that all
the settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are illegal, as defined by the Fourth Geneva
Convention and Security Council resolutions # 446 of March
22, 1979
and # 465 of March 1, 1980..
If Israel is truly interested in peace, it is
essential that it must comply with international law and UN resolutions.
Sincerely,
Ismail Zayid, MD.
