The Hon. Mr. John
Manley
Minister of Foreign
Affairs
Ottawa.

Dear Mr.
Manley:
Canada's vote in
abstention, on the resolution on the right of self
determination for the Palestinian people before the
UN Commission on Human Rights, is a
clear abrogation of our country's claim for support for
the human rights of all peoples, and contradicts our
previous stand on this issue.
The claim, made by the US
and Israel, that supporting this resolution undermines
the peace efforts, is a calumny. Since when has it
become the norm to allow an illegally-occupying power to
have the veto on the rights of a people that have been
brutally oppressed by this occupying power in defiance
of international law and repeated Security Council
resolutions for over 33 years?
How long must our country
remain subservient to US diktats?
Yours
sincerely
Ismail Zayid,
MD.
President, Canada Palestine
Association.
