Subject: " Putting Bill Graham on the
map?"

Dear Editor:
. Edward Greenspon's 'lecture' to Bill Graham : {"Putting
Bill Graham on the map" March 5 } is facile and misguided. Complete
withdrawal by Israel from all illegally occupied territory, in 1967, is
a basic requirement, in compliance with international law and repeated Security
Council resolutions. The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip
constitute onl 22% of the Palestinians' historic land.
Similarly, the right of the refugees to return to their
homes is an inalienable right , as enshrined in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and reaffirmed repeatedly in UN
resolutions. Any abrogation of this right is simply a reward for
aggression.
Israeli security, as well as regional security, can be
attained fully only if the Palestinians are allowed a modicum of justice in
their land, and Israel is willing to display a spirit of peaceful coexistence
with its neighbours.
Yours Sincerely
Ismail Zayid, M.D.
