Subject: Who indocrinates who with antisemitism and hate?!

March 8,2002

The Editor,
The Globe & Mail

Dear Editor:

Raymond Gork [Letter, March 8] speaks of "poisonous anti-semitic indoctrination of Palestinian children." This fable, propagated by Israeli propaganda, about Palestinian textbooks, was, we thought, dismantled by a study, carried out by Nathan Brown, Professor of Political Science at George Washington University {" Prof debunks charges against Palestinian textbooks" by Marc Ferelman, Forward, Jan 18,2002}. Furthermore, contrary to statements made by Israeli President Katsav { quoted in The Globe & Mail , March 8},  it is Israelis who indoctrinate their children with hate [ " Israeli Textbooks and Children's literature promote Racism and Hatred Towards Palestinians and Arabs" by Maureen Meehan, Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Sept. 1999.}

I think it is time that we all condemn the killing of innocent civilians, be they Israeli or Palestinians. Peace and security for both peoples will be assured only when Israel's illegal occupation of all Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territory is completely terminated, and the Palestinian refugees are treated justly.

Yours Sincerely,

Ismail Zayid, M.D.
