The Hon. Mr. Bill Graham, MP.
Minister of Foreign affairs.
Ottawa.
Dear Mr. Graham:
We applaud your stand against terrorism and the killing of
innocent civilians. However, we are puzzled by your selective
concern for terrorist attacks against Israel, as reported today by The
Canadian Press in your blunt message to Mr. Qureia, visting Speaker of
Palestinian Parliament. We note that there is not a word in your statements,
blunt or otherwise, against the virtually daily demolition of
Palestinian homes, the continuing rocket attacks by
Israeli F16's , Apache gunships and tanks destroying Palestinian life and the
infra stucture of Palestinian institutions. There are daily killings of
innocent Palestinian men, women and children , humiliation, denial of access to
hospital care and violation of their human rights. All these brutal acts are in
clear violation of The Fourth Geneva Convention,
and yet go on uncontested by our government and
other governments that claim to care for human rights and international
legitimacy.
Furthermore, do I need to remind you that the
Palestinian people continue to be subjected to an oppressive illegal
occupation that has been allowed to stand for 35 years in
defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions?
This illegal oppressive occupation is a blatant act of terrorism that
is the primary cause of the killings we are witnessing.
We call on our government to speak clearly and call for
the immediate termination of this illegal occupation, so as to
bring peace and security for both the Palestinian and Israeli
peoples.
Yours sincerely,
Ismail zayid, M.D.
President, Canada Palestine
Association.
