The Editor,
The Globe & Mail

Dear Editor,

Marcus Gee states , in his article:{ "Colin Powell and the UN's moment of truth" Feb. 7},: "The Security Council's responsibility could not be clearer. It must enforce its own will." Security Council resolution #687, in 1991,  is the primary authority for the order for Iraqi disarmament from all weapons of mass destruction [WMD]. This resolution states in article # 14, that all countries in the Middle East should be free of all weapons of mass destruction. Israel has nuclear, chemical and biological WMD.

Are Security Council resolutions applicable only to Iraq?

Yours sincerely,

Ismail Zayid,MD.
