Dear Editor;
In your editorial:{"A Mideast opening" Nov. 23], you use the
twisted logic of blaming Arafat for the failure for peace efforts in the
Palestine/Israel conflict. The cause of violence and continuing conflict is
Israeli defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions
and refusal to terminate its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory, that
has been allowed to stand for 37 years, accompanied with violation of virtually
every article of the Fourth Geneva Convention, tantamount to
war crimes.
You give credit to Sharon for " Israel's biggest territorial
concession to the Palestinians." Since when has withdrawal from a tiny
portion of illegally occupied territory deemed a concession?
