Subject: It is the occupation...

Sept. 20,2005

The Editor,
The Globe & Mail

Dear Editor:

In your editoial, ["Out of Gaza's chaos" Sept 20], you mount a massive attack on the Palestine Authority[PA] nd the Palestinian people. Simultaneously you shower great praise on Sharon and the Israelis who, you state: "made significant withdrawal from territory seized in war." There is no mention of the fact that Gaza costitutes a mere 4% of the territory occupied illegally, as a result of a war of aggression waged by Israel in June 1967. You appear to imply that territory seized in war, may be justifiably held by the occupier. Security Council resolution # 242 emphasises, in its preamble,: " the inadmissibility of acquistion of territory by war."

Israeli occupation of occupied Palestinian territory is illegal and stands in defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions. Complete and unconditional withdrawal is a fundmental requirement for complete termination of this illegal and oppressive occupation, in compliance with international law.

Sincerely,

Ismail Zayid.
