Subject: Harvesting of olives.

The Editor,
Guardian Weekly.

Dear Editor:

The report, by Chris McGreal from Aqraba [Oct.17], displays again the intolerable oppression to which Palestinians are being subjected. The denial , by Jewish settlers, in complicity with Israeli police, of the right of the Palestinian farmers to harvest their olive groves, defies all limits of human tolerance. This, incredibly, goes on with a deafening silence from world leaders, who blabber about human rights and international law.

We are told that the settler says ;" God gave the land to the people of Israel, and that's us." I was not aware that God is a real estate agent and the Bible is a 'registry of deeds'.

Yours sincerely,

Ismail Zayid, MD.
